Sizes and gauges

Every size is kept in millimetres; 1 in = 25,4 mm exactly. Calibre numbers differ between tables, so requests carry millimetres.

Sizes, calibres and lengths

The app stores every size in millimetres and shows inches beside them: 1 in is exactly 25,4 mm, and fractions from 1/8 to 8 in are accepted.

Sheet thickness is always kept in millimetres. 'Calibre 18' can mean 1,10 to 1,20 mm (the Colombian steel sheet bands), 1,21 mm (Manufacturers' Standard Gauge), 1,024 mm (AWG) or 1,245 mm (BWG), so the request always carries millimetres.

Bar lengths and sheet formats in the app are starting values to ask about: 6 m is common for steel bar, flat and aluminium profiles in Colombian catalogues; 3,66 m, 6,1 m and 2,67 m come from foreign catalogues. Ask ERA GOLD which lengths it would supply.

  • 6,1 m – Aluminium tube length in a Mexican catalogue. Ask ERA GOLD.
  • 2,67 m (105 in) – Continuous-cast bronze length in a US catalogue. Ask ERA GOLD.
